4 Party-ready pieces to wear on repeat this season

4 Party-ready pieces to wear on repeat this season

If summer 2021 was the season of minimalism, 2022 is the exact opposite. Blame it on two years of pent-up energy or the prospect of a lockdown-free summer, Either way, there’s excitement in the air. Whatever it is, we’re parking our linen loungewear and soft pastel hues in favour of something a little more… extra.

As we watch our social calendar fill up, we’re looking for party-ready pieces we can rinse and repeat this festive season. From sky-high heels to figure-hugging minis, here’s everything we’re currently coveting.

SKYCRAPER SOLES

‘The sky’s the limit’ is this season’s shoe motto. Sleek and sculptural styles designed to make an impact are our go-to for fever-pitch feet. For dance floor-approved designs, a chunky heel will (comfortably) keep you two-stepping all night long. Opt for a preppy mood with Mary Janes or take things up a notch with a ‘70s-inspired platform. Go bold with disco-inspired Fuschia pumps — it’s a no-brainer. Alternatively, tone things down with leather renditions of the classic silouhette, the perfect solution for day-to-night style.

MAXIMALIST MINIS

It wouldn’t be party season without the quintessential mini dress. This season’s vibe takes cue from 1980s glam, with metallic, ruffles, leather, tulle and feathers all making an appearance. Forget what you’ve heard about less is more; it’s all about dressing for excess as the fashion world continues to celebrate dopamine dressing. Think mood-boosting colours, clashing prints and bold textures paired with statement jewellery for a head-turning look. Our pick this season is the versatile mesh dress which can be dressed up with a silk slip dress and heels for a night out, or over a crop and denim cut-offs for a sun-soaked festival.

50 SHADES OF PINK

Love it or loathe it, the hot pink phenomenon is here to stay this season. Just in time for summertime soirées, frocks in fluorescent to Fuschia take to the forefront. Dubbed #BARBIECORE on TikTok, the pink obsession draws inspiration from the upcoming Barbie film (no surprises there) starring Margot Robbie. Alternatively, if you aren’t entirely tickled pink by the trend, consider incorporating accents into a monochrome look for a subtle statement.

ARM CANDY

Bag yourself a winner this holiday period with party-ready purses. On our radar this season are ’90s-inspired baguettes, candy-coloured clutches, bold minis and cocktail-ready cross-bodies in bold textures and unconventional shapes. We’re currently obsessing over peal crossbody bags and rhinestone clutches.
