Harrolds is a family-owned and independently operated Australian luxury retail business. Since 1985, Harrolds has set the tone for luxury fashion in Australia, providing clients with unique access to the most coveted collections from over 100 international and local designers. In 2020 we celebrate our 35th anniversary as Australia’s Luxury Department Store. To mark the milestone, we reflect on the evolution of Harrolds the brand and all those who have contributed to our success over the years.

From small beginnings to today, there is a common theme through this journey and that is one of innovation and reinvention. Core to the evolution of Harrolds is the narrative of five, whereby each quinquennial anniversary is marked with a new milestone.

Beginning in 1985 with the first Harrolds store opening at The Rialto, 495 Collins Street. It was here we established our Collins Street roots for a period of almost 10 years, before relocating to 101 Collins, the iconic address where we have proudly housed our flagship store ever since.

In 2000, Harrolds expanded our reach to Sydney, opening our first boutique at Martin Place. A warm welcome lent itself to a decade of success, which granted us the opportunity to move to our current Westfield Sydney location in 2010.

The following year was one of the most pivotal moments in Harrolds’ history – the introduction of Tom Ford. After years spent courting the global luxury brand, Harrolds welcomed Tom Ford to its menswear department as the Australian exclusive partner. To this day, Tom Ford remains an exclusive and close partner of the Harrolds brand.

To mark our 30th anniversary, in 2015 Harrolds expanded our luxury tailoring and menswear offering to open our first dedicated womenswear store in Westfield Sydney. Not to be mistaken as a replication of our established menswear department, Harrolds womenswear exists in a world of its own and remains a hub for innovative and emerging designers.

A busy 12 months, in 2016 Harrolds continued to evolve, bringing our exclusive offering to the Gold Coast, with the opening of our fifth store in Pacific Fair.

This year, Harrolds celebrates two major milestones: 35 years as Australia’s Luxury Department Store and the launch of our new digital platform, Harrolds Online. Now, Australian and New Zealand clients can experience our world-renowned service in a beautifully curated environment, from browsing our extensive designer catalogue to getting to know first-hand our coveted designers on The Journal.

We are a living fashion institution and will continue to thrive as a business and a family.
